Both initiatives are part of the Cyclin' Portugal project to establish the Aldeias do Xisto territory as a prime destination for professional or amateur cycling. The project is the result of a protocol between the Aldeias do Xisto, the Turismo Centro de Portugal and the Portuguese Cycling Federation, and is supported by the Secretary of State for Tourism.
In addition to these two initiatives, Cyclin' Portugal's 2018 calendar includes events such as the European Downhill Championship, which takes place between 6 and 8 April in Lousã.
