What if the strawberry tree fruit has culinary possibilities yet to be discovered? The Aldeias do Xisto will explore this, in a workshop during the Mostra de Artes e Sabores da Maúnça (Maúnça art and food expo), on 10 November, at 3pm, in Açor.
The strawberry tree fruit is one of the region's excellent products, but its use is mainly reserved for the production of brandies. What the Aldeias do Xisto propose, under the guidance of specialist Nuno Nobre, is to explore the culinary potential of this fruit, discovering new ways, changing flavours and trying new combinations with other excellent products of the area.
This initiative is part of the project "Aldeias do Xisto’s dinner table", which celebrates the heritage of knowledge and flavours of regional cuisine, while creating, renewing and reinventing dishes always based on the heritage of local knowledge and flavours and rescuing regional products that have been, for some reason, neglected.
