The distinction was awarded by the National Institute for Rehabilitation.

This is another distinction that honours Pampilhosa da Serra, showing the excellent work that the Borough has been doing to guarantee the quality of facilities and services for those seeking a destination of excellence.

Of the twenty-two applications admitted to the competition in 2014, the national jury unanimously voted for Pampilhosa da Serra River Beach to be awarded first place. This prize consists of equipment to improve the accessibility of winning beaches.

Following the honourable distinction of three blue flags accredited by the European Blue Flag Association (ABAE) this year to the Janeiro de Baixo, Santa Luziaand Pessegueiro river beaches, it is now the turn of Pampilhosa da Serra river beach to receive the award for the "Most Accessible Beach" from the National Institute for Rehabilitation.

This “Most Accessible Beach” award aims to recognise national beaches, both coastal or inland, that, having been awarded the accessible beach flag during the swimming season, show the best conditions of accessibility, distinguishing themselves by the quality of their services and the well-being that they provide to people with reduced mobility.
