Design as an agent to transform society and man

The exhibition focuses on design as an agent to transform society and man, valuing thought, the project and design’s ethical responsibilities.

According to the director of the exhibition, Bárbara Coutinho, "we want to showcase design that has contributed to a real sharing of information and knowledge, intergenerational exchange, social cohesion, inclusion and multiculturalism, at the same time contributing to human and social development, and championing the universal language of design.

This is exactly what the exhibition Agricultura Lusitana has proposed, reinventing the culture of places with the people who live in them, creating social and economic value in the territory of the Aldeias do Xisto.  It is our identity we are experimenting with when summoning creativity and knowledge. We can make this area a living laboratory, open to new thoughts and people capable of establishing connections to transform the social fabric and giving rise to new ways of doing, acting and being.

A line of action underlined by the creative advisor of Craft-Design+Identity projects, João Nunes: “We work resiliently, in the short and long term. From a pedagogical perspective, I try to make people understand the advantages of investing in design, creating solutions to concrete problems, but also identifying opportunities to create value based on local identity and cultures, taking into account an ethic of social responsibility, in a strategic trajectory that aims to make things really happen'.
