The river Zêzere reaches its full splendour in the famous "curves" - the meanders of Zêzere, classified as geosite by Unesco. On the skyline, there are some of the most beautiful landscapes of the entire Great Route of Zêzere - the quartzite gorge, the Schist Villages of Janeiro de Cima and Janeiro de Baixo, the Machialinho mountain range or the icnofossils.
Although the highlight goes to the river, the gaze wanders through a myriad of mountains: the Gardunha and Estrela mountains, the quartzite mountain alignments of the Muradal and Penedos de Góis mountains and the Açor, Lousã and Cabeço Rainha xistentas mountains. The Cabril reservoir and the Schist Village of Álvaro are also worth mentioning.
The surrounding region is also of ecological interest, with the forest of Álvaro, with spontaneous vegetation of climatic nature, variety of rural paths and a remarkable agricultural activity, such as olive growing.
Places to admire the Zêzere valley: Panoramic road between Madeirã and Casal Novo, Frazumeira, Sarnadela Viewpoint, next to Janeiro de Cima, near Abitureira, from Álvaro. This geomonument can be visited through the PR2 - Álvaro Schist Path, with an extension of 6,3km.
