Louçainha River Beach is a source of pride for the people of the district of Penela.

Adapted from the natural reservoirs of the Azenha Stream, Louçainha River Beach is a point of pride for the people of the municipality of Penela. Nestled between the Espinhal Mountains, the beach area is nearly fully booked during the summer months.

The quality of the water, excellent river facilities, and environmental focus have earned it regular Blue Flag recognition, alongside the designation as an Accessible Beach. Except for the area reserved for children, the depth of the bathing area, which exceeds three meters near the diving platform, makes it ideal for swimming.

In this river retreat in the heart of the mountains, there is also a restaurant/bar with a panoramic view. Take the opportunity to visit the several villages that dot the mountains, with a special mention of the Schist Village of Ferraria de São João, and enjoy the magnificent surrounding landscape. On your way back, be sure to visit Penela, climb up to the castle through its narrow, well-preserved streets, and relive the ancient memories of the beginning of the nationality.
