The Borough of Pampilhosa da Serra was among the 36 finalists nominated for the prize “Local Authority of the Year Portugal 2015", instituted by the University of Minho through its unit UM-Cidades. The award highlights and rewards good practice in projects implemented by local authorities with remarkable impacts on the territory, the economy, and society, which promote growth, inclusion, and sustainability.
The Pampilhosa da Serra Council competed with its Programme Grandparents' Conversations, being selected from among 80 applications and nominated for the category "Central Region 2015" (less than 20 thousand inhabitants) and for the grand prize “Local Authority of the Year Portugal 2015".
Grandparents' Conversations is a social intervention programme for the non-institutionalised elderly population that promotes well-being, self-esteem, leisure, and conviviality, creating the conditions for active ageing.
Pampilhosa da Serra was present at the Awards Ceremony, which took place on Thursday 9 July, at Theatro Circo, in Braga, where it received the Nominated Finalist Diploma.
