Miranda do Corvo received, on October 12, the Senior Social Intervention 2022 award, awarded by the Cidade Social platform, at a ceremony held in Óbidos. The Municipality won 2nd place, ex-aequo with the municipalities of Esposende and Cantanhede, in the category of municipalities with a population between 10,001 and 50,000 inhabitants, recognizing a set of social policies that encourage the active aging of the elderly population, the fight to isolation, in a logic of complementarity of measures implemented by local institutions.
Also noteworthy was the support that was given to families with vouchers for purchases at local shops, through family checks, the support that was given through the program that was implemented when the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, that is, the Municipal Assistance Plan Social Emergency COVID-19 Program and the “Local SNS Vaccination” Program, which was implemented in 2020.
The Municipality also wrote a chapter in the scope of the book Ação Social Autárquica together with the Municipalities of Albergaria-a-Velha, Arroiolos, Câmara de Lobos, Esposende, Funchal, Góis, Maia, Moura, Nelas, Ourém, Torres Novas, Viana do Alentejo, Vila Nova de Gaia. The ADFP Foundation also presented, in its own chapter, the social work carried out by the institution.
