Under the aegis of the XII Seminar "Municípios Amigos do Desporto” (Sports Friendly Municipalities), taking place in Vila Franca de Xira, Lousã Council will receive, on 20 December, two distinctions resulting from projects submitted by the Authority and which obtained the highest score. The awards will be presented in the “Local Authority Sports Programming" and "Adapted Sports Programme" categories.
Added to these distinctions is the fact that Lousã was, for the third year running, distinguished as "Sports Friendly Local Authority", an award made by the Social City platform, in a ceremony that took place in Madeira, on 29 November.
The prestigious award is a national recognition of the work done by the Loxal Authority in the area of Sport. The award is made in ten categories: sports organisation, facilities, events, programmes, ecological sustainability strategies, solidarity sport, partnerships, sporting reality, legislation, marketing, and innovation. It also focuses on different aspects of sports management, such as the management model implemented and its results, the development of a sustainable attitude through sport, the solidarity and inclusive approach through sport, the excellence and comprehensiveness of the intervention models.
Awarded by the Social City platform and validated by the Secretary of State for Youth and Sport, the prize seeks to recognise and promote good practice in sports management in portuguese local authorities, as part of the promotion of sports development in their regions.
