Góis Town Council was, for the fourth consecutive year, honoured by the Observatory of the Most Family Friendly Local Authorities (OAFR) as one of the Most Family Friendly for adopting effective policies to support families.
The distinction, awarded to 76 of the 141 applicants, intends to recognise the local authorities' capacity for intervention, encouraging the continuity of family support policies and promoting the adoption of new measures.
The parameters used by the Observatory, created in 2008 by the Portuguese Association of Large Families, are based on an analysis of areas of activity such as maternity and paternity support, support for families with special needs, basic services, education and training, housing and urban planning, transport, health, culture, sport, leisure and free time, cooperation, institutional relations and social engagement, and good practice in relation to employees and work-life balance, among other things.
The Góis Town Council will be awarded, along with 58 other local authorities, the "Palma Flag”, which is destined for those that have received the award for three or more consecutive years, in a ceremony to be held on 27 November, in Coimbra.
