Fundão was distinguished last Friday, 7 November, with an honourable mention for second place at national level in the “Borough of the Year Portugal 2014" awards, accredited by the UMCidades Platform, University of Minho.
Fundão won the award for Borough of the Year 2014 in the Central Region.
From nearly 100 short-listed candidates, the jury of specialists from several universities highlighted Fundão's innovative strategy in the creation of value and the attraction of companies and investors, namely in the area of the new information and communication technologies, as demonstrated by the flagship multinational, Altran.
For Paulo Fernandes, Mayor of Fundão, "this is a great incentive, and a great responsibility, to continue along the reformist line of changing the traditional role of boroughs. It is surely a source of pride for all employees and citizens, wherever they are”.
