Pampilhosa da Serra hosted the second stage of the 2016 Downhill Portugal Cup. Two hundred and twenty-seven athletes from all over Europe put on a real show.
Josuhua Bryceland, the world ranking number 5, took command of the overall trophy standings with a time of 2m23.595s. In second place was his main race rival, Vasco Bica DHI 2015 national champion, 3.408 seconds slower, and taking third position on the podium was the Spaniard, Edgar Carballo taking an additional 3.772 seconds.
The Italian DHI champion Veronika Widmann was also there and triumphed in the women's race with a time of 2m54,788s. In third place was the Portuguese champion Filipa Peres.
Two days of adrenaline and thrills on a very fast track. The 2000 metres of length and 400m of incline make this track a national attraction for Downhill sports.
Even with some rain, attendance was always lively, providing a real sporting spectacle.
