Continuing the recent trend, the number of Aldeias do Xisto River Beaches attaining Blue Flag accreditation increased once again in 2019, with 16 swimming areas earning this distinction. You may recall that, in 2018, 15 beaches were distinguished with the award, 3 more than in 2017.
With quality infrastructure,pure waters, natural surroundings, freshness, and tranquillity, the Aldeias do Xisto River Beaches are unique places for relaxation and leisure activities.

This annual recognition from the European Blue Flag Association attests to the environmental quality of beaches, recreational ports, and marinas, ensuring that criteria such as information and environmental education, water quality, environmental management and facilities, and safety and service provisions are met.
