Between June and September, the seasons dedicated to Jazz and music of an experimental nature are back in the Aldeias do Xisto.
Promoted by ADXTUR - Schist Villages Tourism Development Agency and JACC - Jazz at the Centre Club, XJazz - Encontros de Jazz das Aldeias do Xisto invites again national and international renowned musicians to immerse themselves in the reality of the villages through artistic residences and concerts, crossing cultural identity and landscapes with music, drama and scenography.
XJazz’s artistic programme is rooted in the genuine identity and culture of the villages, benefiting from its social and environmental circumstances for unique moments of creation, discovery and sharing.
The Aldeias do Xisto are a brand that welcomes experimentation and innovation.
Since 2012, the Aldeias do Xisto have hosted 24 concerts and 5 artistic residencies. During the artistic residencies, 3 albums were produced: "Guitolão", by Carlos Barretto and António Eustáquio (recorded in Aldeia do Xisto da Cerdeira), "Xisto" by the quintet of Marcelo dos Reis, Angélica Salvi, Nuno Torres, Miguel Carvalhais and João Pais Filipe (recorded in Cerdeira) and Slow is Possible’s self-titled album (recorded in Fajão).
