The National Ultra Trail Champion will be crowned in Miranda do Corvo. Trilhos dos Abutres 2020 runs from 31 January to 2 February. Three days dedicated to trail running where athletes and supporters will have the opportunity to experience a truly great sporting event.
Organised by Abutrica Association in partnership with the Trail Running de Portugal Association, the 10th edition of Trilhos dos Abutres features the winners of previous editions: Luiz Mota (2011), Armando Teixeira (2012), Susana Simões (2012), Glória Serrazina (2013), Nuno Silva (2013/2014), Ester Alves (2014-2015), Ricardo Silva (2015), David Quelhas (2016), Lucinda Sousa (2016), André Rodrigues (2017/2018), Pedro Ribeiro (2019), Susana Rodriguez (2019)
The tough muddy trails are back, but with the ever-present sweeping landscapes of Miranda do Corvo, now more than ever in the international elite’s radar, following its appearance in 2019 as the stage of the World Trail Running Championship.
The significant increase of athletes interested in running the Vulture Trails each year limits the event’s capacity, requiring participants to register and be subject to a draw for places. 1 November was the day selected for the pre-registration phase for the Ultra Trilhos dos Abutres (UTA) and Trilhos dos Abutres (TA) challenges, and registrations for the 1000 places for the Mini Trilhos dos Abutres (MTA) were given. The draw for the 55km and 30km races was held on 22 November
The UTA route was designed by the organisers in such a way as to offer "the best route ever, combining the best aspects of the World Trail Running Championship with the classic Ultra Trilhos dos Abutres trails".

Eco-responsible event
Trilhos dos Abutres is much applauded for the quality of its organisational skills, mainly due to more than 300 local volunteers who devoted their professionalism and hospitality to the success of this event. The athletic community also praised the eco-friendly measures practised throughout this event. From the outset, the organisers focused on actions that reduce the environmental impact, such as the abolition of disposable cups, the construction of approved tracks and the reuse of materials.
A press conference is scheduled for 30 January at 11am, where details will be given about the 10th edition of Trilhos dos Abutres and the Trail Running de Portugal Association’s Awards Gala for the 2018/2019 Circuits, to be held on Saturday, February 1, at Casa das Artes in Miranda do Corvo, at 10pm.
Once again, the Associação Abútrica is supported by Miranda do Corvo City Council as a partner and SportHG as a technical partner.
