Casas da Serra do Açor is a Rural Tourism company that was created in 2008 in the village of Casal Novo, Arganil Council. This family project began with the restoration of the "Casa do Avô" (Grandfather House), followed by the "Casa do Forno Cimeira" and the "Casa do Forno Fundeira".
The initial construction of these three houses dates back to the 19th century, and the refurbishment was carried out between 2010 and 2012. The renovation sought to preserve some of the original characteristics of the schist buildings, nonetheless providing them with all modern comforts and conveniences. Surrounded by the magnificent landscapes of the Serra do Açor mountain range and the Ceira River, guests are guaranteed rest, privacy and comfort.
Casa do Avô
Casa do Avô has two double rooms and two twin rooms, and 4 extra beds can be set up. On the ground floor, there is the living room, dining room and fully equipped kitchen, and an outdoor patio with wood oven and barbecue. On the two upper floors there are the bedrooms and bathrooms and two balconies with a privileged view of the mountains and the river.
The house is rented on an exclusive basis and can accommodate up to 12 people. It is equipped with central heating, free internet connection and cable TV in the living room. Breakfast is included in the price and other meals can be served by arrangement. Pets are allowed.
Casa do Forno
Casa do Forno is divided into 2 independent floors - Casa do Forno Cimeira and Casa do Forno Fundeira.
Casa do Forno Cimeira has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, a living room, fully equipped kitchenette, access to a terrace and barbecue (shared). The house is rented on an exclusive basis and can accommodate up to 5 people. It is equipped with central heating, free internet connection and cable TV in the living room. Breakfast is included in the price and other meals can be served by arrangement. Pets are allowed.
Casa do Forno Fundeira has one double bedroom and one twin bedroom, living room, fully equipped kitchenette, a small patio at the back and access to a terrace (shared). It has central heating and a wood-burning stove. An extra bed can be set up. This house is accessible to people with reduced mobility. The house has central heating, a fireplace in the living room (firewood is free) and has free internet access and satellite TV in the living room. The house is rented on an exclusive basis and can accommodate up to 5 people.
