The Casa das Tecedeiras (the Weavers’ House) is a place where the linen-weaving tradition has been reinvented to embrace modern design. This space functions as a shop and an exhibition centre, where visitors learn about the linen cycle and can try using an antique loom.
The artists at Casa das Tecedeiras are all locals from the villages who have benefited from years of training in textile design. Today, they produce a wide variety of items, from clothes and fashion accessories to household linens and decorative pieces.
For the L4Craft project, Casa das Tecedeiras teamed up with Nuno Alves to create a collection of playful objects, which combines chestnut wood from Serra da Gardunha with the ancestral art of weaving. For the Agricultura Lusitana project they participated with "Juntar os Trapinhos", a set of two individual pieces of double fabric.
